I’ve booked a treatment at Luna Beauty & Holistic Therapies salon - where should I go?
The salon is a home based treatment room at 1 Madely Close, Horncastle, Lincolnshire, LN9 6RQ. The treatment room is immediately inside and not through the family home. The house is on the corner of Madely Close, Horncastle and is easy to locate. Please park in front of the house; there is space in front of the bay front window, or there is normally plenty of on-street parking. A toilet is available. There is also a sign by the front door so you know you are at the correct house 🙂
The salon is on the ground floor. If you have a mobility condition requiring a wheelchair ramp this is available - please give advance notice so this can be set up ready for you.
What time should I arrive?
Please arrive on time for your appointment and no earlier than 5 minutes before. Sometimes clients arrive 20+ minutes before their appointment and if you are very early please stay in your vehicle or wait outside (there is a picnic bench on the park opposite).
Please understand that I do not have a receptionist and work on my own. So it can be really difficult to accommodate you if you arrive very early (or late) for appointments. Sometimes my previous client may still be here and it interrupts their treatment time. Or I will be cleaning ready for your appointment and the floor may still be wet from mopping.
There is a bench in the hallway to wait on in the rare occasions that clients appointments cross over.
What should I wear?
Current UK law states you do not need to wear a facemask covering - this is entirely your choice.
Please wear your normal daytime clothes. If you are having a Indian Head Massage, Deep Relaxation Treatment, a Facial or Gentle Release Therapy then wearing a loose fitting clothes is helpful.
Will I be covered for my treatment?.... I feel awkward about removing my clothes in front of a stranger.
Yes, you will always be covered up with towels and blankets during your treatment. Throughout a treatment then your therapist only uncovers the part of the body being treated at that time.
Your therapist will leave the room for you to undress (to your underwear) in privacy for massage therapy treatments – so you will not be asked to stand in your underwear. There are hooks to hang your clothes on or a chair.
You will remain in your normal daytime clothes for Deep Relaxation Treatment, Gentle Release Therapy, most Beauty Treatments, Indian Head Massage (sometimes your top is removed and a towel is wrapped around your upper body), Facials and Ear Candling treatments. Client modesty is always a priority.
Is there anywhere I can relax after my treatment?
Treatments are not a conveyor belt here at Luna.
A drink of water and hot drinks are offered after treatments.
All treatments are carried out in a relaxed and non-rushed environment.
But unlike some spa's there is no 'sleep' room available afterwards.
What should I expect?
Luna Beauty & Holistic Therapies aims to provide treatments to a very high standard, in a professional, friendly, hygienic, warm and comfortable environment. The massage couch is incredibly comfortable and is hydraulic so moves up and down in three parts.
Some clients like to chat throughout their treatment, other clients like to have some quiet time or even fall asleep. Everything is 100% confidential.
You should expect to feel relaxed when you leave.
Do you treat men?
Yes. All treatments at Luna Beauty & Holistic Therapies are for both men and woman.
Underwear must always be worn.
Waxing - no therapist is trained for male intimate waxing, only female intimate waxing is available.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please give at least 24 hours notice to cancel an appointment; otherwise regrettably a 50% charge will be made. This is asked as a courtesy so that the appointment can be re-booked for another client.
If you fail to show for an appointment then you will be asked to pay for the treatment fee in full.
We try to send reminder text messages the day before your appointment - but the system does not always have a signal and this is not an indication that your appointment is not taking place. In the rare occasion that we need to cancel your appointment (such as due to staff sickness) then we will ring you as soon as feasibly possible.
I have very sensitive skin, will I still be able to have a massage?
Different oils are available from unscented Organic Sunflower oil (for all skin types) and Fractionated Coconut Oil (for dry skin) to scented essential pre-blended oils. No nut oils are used due to allergies etc. Indian Head Massage can be performed without any oils if desired.
Facial wipes are available for clients who are concerned about leaving with oil on their face.
There is no facility to take a shower after your treatment.
What if I have other health problems, can I still have a treatment?
If you are concerned that a treatment may not be suitable or safe for you, please telephone to discuss your concerns before booking an appointment.
You will be asked to complete a full health questionnaire before your first treatment.
Depending on the type of medical concerns, we may have to write to your GP with your consent for their permission.
COVID19 Vaccination (or any type of vaccination) - if you have had a vaccination you must wait 7 days for your appointment.
What methods of payment are available?
Payment can be made by cash, cheque (if you do not have internet/telephone banking) or Bank Transfer (BACS) - please get in touch for Bank details. Sorry no card machine is currently available and we do not accept PayPal.
What treatment advice do you recommend?
A full client consultation via a health questionnaire is undertaken before any treatment can begin. It is the responsibility of the client to provide an accurate medical history in order to provide the best possible care and treatment.
It is advisable to avoid drinking alcohol after any holistic treatment especially after Massage and when Aromatherapy Oils are used.
Please ensure that you drink plenty of water or herbal tea for the rest of the day/evening after your treatment.
To enable you to get the most benefit from any relaxation therapy treatment it is best to arrange your appointment for when you know you will have time to relax afterwards.
After a treatment using aromatherapy oils it is advisable to avoid swimming, bathing and showering for at least three to four hours to allow penetration of essential oils. However this is your personal choice. Some clients who suffer from skin conditions or are prone to spots prefer to shower the oil off sooner than this recommended time limit. Certain essential oils can make the skin more sensitive to sunlight so it is best to avoid sunbathing, sunbeds or direct sun exposure for at least 12 hours after a treatment.
Pregnancy - Massage is not recommended within the first fourteen weeks of pregnancy, but therapy treatments can be very beneficial after this time especially Pregnancy Massage, Reflexology and Indian Head Massage. Facials, Gentle Release Therapy and Deep Relaxation Treatment can be performed during the early weeks of pregnancy.
Medical approval may be required before certain treatments take place if you suffer with any serious illness or conditions – if you have had any spinal or neck surgeries previously please inform prior to booking an appointment.
Luna Beauty & Holistic Therapies can treat children under the age of 16 years of age provided parental consent is given on the client health form. This is to satisfy the requirements of the Insurers. Once parental consent is provided, treatments can be tailored to suit the requirements of children and adolescents.
How big is your massage couch - I am very tall or I am overweight?
The therapy couch at Luna Holistic Therapies is long, wide and very comfortable and able to accommodate almost all sizes (up to 32 stones). The couch is hydraulic so moves up and down in three parts. Some regular clients are 6' 4" and they find the couch very comfortable and accommodating. Please do not let your size put you off having a therapy treatment at the studio; clients of all shapes and sizes come regularly and everything is completely confidential. The couch has a neck and arm cradle attached but this can be removed, some clients prefer to rest on a pillow or lay completely flat on the couch. Your ultimate comfort is very important to your Therapist so please ask if you wish to readjust at any point during your treatment.
When can I have Pregnancy Massage? Is there any reason I cannot have Pregnancy Massage?
Pregnancy massage can be performed from 14 weeks of pregnancy. A full health consultation will be carried out before any treatment is given and you will be sent a list of conditions prior to your first pregnancy massage appointment, to decide if any possible contra-indications will affect whether you can have pregnancy massage. If any are found then your pregnancy massage therapist will need to write to your GP for permission.
The main contra-indications in Pregnancy are :- multiple pregnancy, history of pregnancy problems, threatened miscarriage, bleeding during pregnancy, gestational diabetes, early labour, placental dysfunction and pre-eclampsia. However as long as medical consent is given then it is likely you can still have a pregnancy massage, so please get in touch to discuss further.
